The Anthem of the Desert Pea
Across the heart of our wide land
A flower black and red
Writes a song of memory
And sings LEST WE FORGET
It grows beside the poppies tall
And bows it’s scarlet heads.
For those who died on our country
We’ll sing LEST WE FORGET
A flower black and red
Writes a song of memory
And sings LEST WE FORGET
It grows beside the poppies tall
And bows it’s scarlet heads.
For those who died on our country
We’ll sing LEST WE FORGET
CHORUS
Lest we forget
Lest we forget
This is our country’s cradle song
Lest we forget
Lest we forget
We speak the truth
So we can right the wrong
Lest we forget
Lest we forget
This is our country’s cradle song
Lest we forget
Lest we forget
We speak the truth
So we can right the wrong
Australia has a history
First Peoples died and bled
So grew the precious desert pea
To sing LEST WE FORGET
Australians all let us rejoice
For we are one and free
And those who died upon our soils
Were loved like you and me.
First Peoples died and bled
So grew the precious desert pea
To sing LEST WE FORGET
Australians all let us rejoice
For we are one and free
And those who died upon our soils
Were loved like you and me.
